1+1=3. A bronze sculpture of a boy in his early teens stands in a schoolyard. He is standing barefoot on the concrete wearing a hoodie, reaching his arms around an invisible friend. The sculpture is heated so that you can snug into his embrace and get a warm hug or just warm your hands by placing a hand on his cheek. The schoolyard can be a harsh place, the sculpture projects empathy, warmth, venerability, hope and compassion. Inside in the hallway are large drawings depicting the boy to remind you of what a simple hug can bring to the world.
Exposé 2020. The purpose of Exposé 2020 was, among other things, to contribute to
exciting and positive experiences during an otherwise challenging time for the entire
society due to covid-19. The idea was to fill the city’s empty spaces. Tove created three very large, translucent pieces of fabric, stretched between flagpoles at the main square. Printed on the fabric were drawings of body shapes in movement, standing strong and powerful to signal healing and forward movement. Location: Stora Torget in Linköping. Commissioned by the City of Linköping, SE.
Alone Together. An interactive bronze sculpture embodying the daily experiences of city residents and transforming what we write on social media into everyday poetry. When the sculpture was installed at Stockholm and Gothenburg central train stations in 2014, it expressed residents’ laughter, tears, and everyday reflections in real-time. By picking up random sentences from city dwellers’ social media, the mechanical bronze sculpture creates a bridge between the digital and the physical world. The digital public space gains a voice and a body in the physical public space. Commissioned by Jernhusen & Absolut Art.The digital public space gains a voice and a body in the physical public space.
