Alone Together (2015)

Bronze, electronics, servos, jesmonite, 164×25×25cm

Alone Together
is a robotic sculpture made for public space. It relates to classic sculpture as it is cast in bronze. It uses the real-time Twitter-flow connected to a certain position, e.g. ”Stockholm”. With a speech-synthesis voice the robot babbles about what is going on in the neighborhood at the moment. Real-time poetry where many voiced is assembled and monitored from one machine.
People of all ages were drawn to Alone Together – many were charmed, some confused, others delighted. And then someone took it into their head to break its neck. Kjellmark put something into the world and then observed how people reacted to it. In the process, she learned something about the interaction between her intentions, the realization of her intentions, and how people react to this fragile, but feisty bronze creature that emerged from Kjellmark’s workshop. It is as if one can learn about fear and intolerance by introducing alien artifacts into everyday spaces and routines.
